Heavy metal fans could be mistaken for owning a harley Davidson since their style is very similar to bikers. If you are a heavy metal fan, you are more than likely going to stand out a bit more than the average (but that’s being stereotypical). (the two gestures used the most for expression). I also can’t forget about head banging and the corna aka the devils head. The Wall of Death causes serious injuries, especially in the frontline, but it can be good fun. example of a mosh/circle pitĪnother form of expression during a gig or concert is the Wall of Death, where the crowd is divided into two, and at the heaviest part of the song, each side will run at each other until they reach the middle and slam into each other. Moshing is a form of expression, and can be really enjoying, but there can be serious injuries, I for one broke my big toe in the pit before. The style of dance at these concerts or gigs involve Moshing where a large majority of the crowd create what’s known as a mosh-pit where people push, shove and slam into each other at the heaviest part of the song. Heavy metal concerts are known to be alienated as the crowds are generally very aggressive in comparison to most music genres. The people who are involved in this culture are known predominately as metalhead(s) or headbanger(s).Ĭoncerts and Gigs– Heavy metal fans contribute to the scene by attending concerts. The Fusion genre to metal examples are post hardcore, trash metal, nu metal, alternative metal, gothic metal, folk metal, metalcore etc.
Now, heavy metal has it’s own sub genres, examples such as: Black metal, Death metal, glam metal, groove metal, traditional metal etc. It was a recreation or sub genre to rock music, but metal involved using the more distinct and obvious sound which was adding a mass amount of distortion making the genre aggressive, masculine, powerful and loud. It’s said that the bands Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and deep purple were the first on the heavy metal scene although this is debatable. Heavy metal came about in the late 1960s to early 1970s.
